Use Spokenly with amazee.ai
Spokenly is a voice-to-text dictation app for macOS and iOS with AI-powered text processing. It supports bringing your own API keys for cloud transcription and AI features like text cleanup, summarization, and custom prompts. Connect it to amazee.ai to process your AI text commands through your regional endpoint.
Prerequisites
- Spokenly installed on macOS or iOS
- An amazee.ai API key
Connect Spokenly to amazee.ai
- Open Spokenly and go to Settings
- Navigate to the API Keys section
- Under the OpenAI provider, enter:

What works with amazee.ai
Spokenly's BYOK mode covers the AI text processing features — things like:
- Custom prompts for reformatting, summarizing, or translating dictated text
- AI-powered text cleanup using models like Claude
Voice-to-text transcription uses separate models (local Whisper/Parakeet or cloud transcription providers) and is not affected by this configuration.
Verify
Use one of Spokenly's AI text processing features and check my.amazee.io → Usage to confirm requests appear.
Troubleshooting
AI processing not working : Make sure the API key and base URL are saved correctly. Spokenly must be running for BYOK to be active.
Transcription unaffected : This is expected. Voice-to-text uses its own models. The amazee.ai key is only used for AI text processing features.
Model not available : Check Available Models for models available in your region.
